District 1199C staff and members honor Martin Luther King, Jr. by celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Greensboro Sit-ins.
The 2010 AFL-CIO Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance was held January 18 through January 18 in Greensboro, North Carolina. This year's Observance also marked the 50th anniversary of the Greensboro Sit-ins to end racial segregation at lunch counters and other public facilities.
District 1199C worked with The Triad Labor Council, North Carolina AFL-CIO and local unions to make the Observance a success. In addition to listening to guest speakers and attending workshops, attendees committed one day to community service.
